Work therapy on Krk — restoring an old house by the Adriatic Sea

Work Therapy on Krk 🌿

Sometimes the best conversations happen while painting shutters. Last weekend we spent our time on Krk working, painting the house, fixing up the space, making small repairs, and cooking homemade šurlice pasta with wild asparagus. Between all the work, there was still enough time for the sea, silence, and small moments of rest. In many ways, the whole weekend naturally continued the inspiration from our recent trip to Greece. After creating our first raised garden bed at KroNLand last month inspired by Greek cuisine and lovingly named “Greek Moussaka”, it somehow felt completely natural to paint the old shutters on Krk in a recognizable Greek blue. Greece reminded us how beauty often lives in simplicity… white walls, blue details, natural materials, shared meals, and a slower rhythm of life. Those memories stayed with us long after returning home.

While Davor worked on the facade and prepared the walls for a fresh layer of paint, I focused on the shutters that had been waiting for years to be restored. The old house on Krk is slowly coming back to life, step by step. And maybe that’s exactly where the beauty lies, not in finishing everything at once, but in enjoying the process of creating a space. After work, we rewarded ourselves with a quick swim in the still refreshing sea. It was Sunday, the beaches were already full of people, but the water still required a little courage. Luckily, we had already left behind that first spring hesitation toward cold water back in March, while swimming in the Aegean Sea in Greece.

At Transflorium, we often talk about “work therapy,” but maybe it’s actually something much simpler. About working with your hands. About slowing down. About being present. About creating a space together. And about the people who help you breathe a little more peacefully. Today, many of us are searching for ways to disconnect from noise, screens, and everyday pressure. Yet sometimes it’s physical work, simple tasks, and time spent in nature that achieve what even the best plans cannot, bringing a person back to themselves. Maybe that is the real value of weekends like this. Not perfection, but the small things: the smell of the sea, the colors of old shutters, a shared lunch, and the feeling that, at least for a moment, you allowed yourself to slow down. For us, this is also part of the Transflorium story, creating spaces where people can work, create, rest, and rediscover a simpler rhythm of life. 🌿

The full makeover of the house is still far ahead of us, but every small step makes us happy. Because the most beautiful things are often created slowly, through work, play, and shared memories.

Radna terapija na Krku 🌿

Ponekad najbolji razgovori nastanu dok farbamo škure.

Potpuni makeover kuće još je daleko ispred nas, ali veseli nas svaki mali korak. Jer najljepše stvari često nastaju polako, kroz rad, igru i zajedničko stvaranje uspomena.
